WARNER FAMILY

    This page is dedicated to the history of the Thomas Warner Family. Thomas Warner was born in Farmington, Connecticut around 1765. He enlisted into the Revolutionary War at a very young age at Farmington, Connecticut in May of 1780. He served in Captain Joseph Thomas's Co. of Colonel John Lamb's Continental Artillery from 1780-1783 and was in the Battle of Yorktown. He was discharged at West Point, NY in January of 1783. He came to Hartford, Connecticut and was united in marriage with Belinda Dickerson on October 15th, 1788. There were eight known children, Jairus, Ammon, Joseph, Ruth, Truman, James, Hiram, and Horace D.

    Around 1800, the family came to Tompkins Co, NY. and settled at Hector. The family remained here until 1823, when they moved to Bradford Co., Pennsylvania and located in Wells Twp. Thomas Warner died at Bradford Co., PA on March 26th, 1840. Belinda Warner died in Bradford Co., PA. in 1856.

    Horace Dickerson Warner born in NY on July 4th, 1810. He was the son of Thomas Warner and Belinda Dickerson. Around 1834, he was united in marriage with Freelove Wells in 1834. They came to Calhoun Co., Michigan around 1835 with along with the Wells family and became some of Michigan's earliest settlers, locating in Pennfield Twp in Calhoun County. There were eight known children, Mary Belinda, Lucetta Marie, Ruth Amanda, Ammon Thomas, Horace Dickerson, Cynthia, Marie and Truman B.

  The family came to Ionia County, Michigan in the late 1850's and settled there. In the 1860's the family moved to Oceana Co., Michigan and settled in Greenwood Twp., just over the line form Muskegon County. Ruth Amanda, Lucetta, and Ammon Thomas all remained in Ionia County where they married. Ruth Amanda married George Washington Blackmer, Lucetta married John Towne Gould, and Ammon Thomas married Francis Louisa Daniels. Ammon Thomas Warner and Francis Louisa Daniels were married in 1866 and Ammon purchased a farm in Sebewa Township in Ionia Co. There were eight children born to Ammon Thomas and Francis, Walter, Ulysses Grant, Rhupert Fielding, Harry Ammon, Gratia Louisa, Francis Suzannah, Lucetta Gertrude, and Industry Pearl.

    In the early 1870's, Ammon Thomas moved his family to Holton, Muskegon Co., Michigan and located near his father and brothers, who lived nearby. Horace Warner Sr. died sometime in the 1880's and his wife Freelove, died in 1896. Ammon Thomas moved to Hillsdale Co before 1880 and lived there a few years before returning to Ionia County. He then moved to Barryton, Mecosta Co., Michigan sometime after 1900 and died there in 1911. Francis Louisa then married Elias Lyons Sr. Francis Louisa died in 1928. Most of Ammon's brothers and sisters lived in the Muskegon and Oceana Counties vicinity with the exception of Ruth Amanda who moved to Washington State.

    Walter Warner took over his father's Ionia County property in Sebewa Twp which is located on present day Route 66. This land is still in the Warner Family and the old home still stands at this location.
